Bio
Mick Klüg Farm focuses on providing sustainably-farmed, hand-harvested, quality fresh fruit and vegetables to local and Chicago-based farmers markets, restaurants, breweries, and fresh produce retailers. Mick Klüg Farm promotes environmental stewardship and locally grown produce, and is proud to have been a part of Green City Market for more than twenty years, and City of Chicago markets for more than 35.
As a third generation family farm dating back to the 1930s, retaining the land and operations in the family is critical to the farm’s mission. Over recent years, Mick Klug has worked closely with his daughter, Abby Schilling, her husband, Mark Schilling, and more recently her brother- and sister-in-law, Ben and Bae Schilling, to successfully transfer ownership and management of the farm.
Look for ramps, purple and green asparagus, rhubarb and strawberries in the spring, raspberries and blueberries in the summer, and over ten varieties of seedless grapes at Mick Klüg Farm's stand, including Concords and Niagaras in the fall! Peaches, their biggest seller, shelled peas and fresh-pressed apple cider (served hot in cooler months!) are also specialties.
